Unprepared Presentation

When I began working on some POC comic strips, I did everything by hand. Thumbnail sketches, initial layout, pencils, inks, and lettering. There are numerous benefits to working by hand, including fine line control and natural line strokes. BUT it is very hard to make corrections after-the-fact and I completely understand why most artists go digital for their final products.

I still love drawing by hand and I’m still working through my process for jumping to digital final product creation. It’s fun to go back and see some of these early strips and see how things have changed in even a relatively short amount of time.
